NPFL Super Six: Rivers United snatches late draw against Remo Stars

Rivers United played out a two-all draw against Remo Stars in the Super Six playoffs of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL in Lagos.

A late goal from Rivers United saw them settle for a dramatic 2-2 draw against Remo on match day two of the Super Six Playoffs.

Remo was on the verge of securing a first win in the playoffs after Olamilekan Adedayo, who also drew his side level at 71 minutes, scored in the 93rd minute.

But in the 96th minute, Abegunrin Lukman scored to help Rivers earn a point from the game.

Nyima Nwagua had given Rivers United the lead in the 16th minute.

Rivers United now occupies the second spot with four points after two games while Remo is fourth with two points.

The ‘Pride of Rivers’ are gunning to win the league for the second time in a row after securing their first league title last season.

The team went all the way to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

Rivers United needs an outright win in their last match of the tournament to stand a chance of reclaiming the league title.

In the first game of match day two, Enyimba recorded a 1-0 win against Lobi Stars.
