Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Kwara United have parted ways with coach John Obuh after failing to meet expectations in a three-match ultimatum given him by the clubs management.
The Ilorin club announced on their official social media accounts that they have decided to let go of the former Nigeria Under-17 and U-20 coach on Monday, March 12.
Obuh successfully led the Harmony Warriors to promoting to the NPFL from the NNL with three leagues games left to play last season, but the opposite has been the case for Kwara United in the elite league this season.
Obuh leaves Kwara United at the bottom of the league table with 11 points after 12 games played.
The management of the club had instructed the head coach to get impressive results in his last three games or face a sack, but Kwara Utd lost at home to Rivers United and away to Abia Warriors. The 1-1 draw against El-Kanemi Warriors was the last straw.
It was gathered from trusted sources at the Ilorin club that Obuh’s replacement will be Abubakar Bala, who was sacked by Niger Tornadoes this season.
According to information reaching us, Bala will be unveiled as coach of Kwara United on Wednesday.
