Already, most of the countries expected for the championship being sponsored arrived Port Harcourt at the weekend.
A record-breaking 15 countries are set to take part in the All-African Badminton Championships at Port Harcourt in Nigeria.
Most of the teams held other training sessions at the venue yesterday and are ready to go.
Joining the hosts at the Alfred Diete Spiff Civic Centre will be athletes from Algeria, Benin, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Participants are due to take part in a team event beginning tomorrow and lasting until Thursday, April 25, when the finals will be held.
An individual competition will then start on Friday, April 26, with the finals on April 28.
Egypt are the defending champions in the team event, having taken the title for the first time in South Africa in 2017.
According to the organizers, the championship will commence with the opening ceremony and the team events today.
18 players are expected to represent Nigeria at the competition.
