The Delta State Police Command says it has arrested a thirty-year-old suspected cultist and two other suspects involved in armed robbery in different parts of the state.
The suspected cultist identified as Precious Moses was arrested by operatives attached to the Otor-Owhe Division in Isoko North Local Government Area of the State.
A statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe and made available to newsmen said the police recovered a locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, and three (3) live cartridges from the suspect.
Edafe said the suspect was arrested when the raid squad busted a hideout where members of a secret cult were holding a meeting.
According to him, “The suspected cultists on noticing the presence of the policemen, took to their heels but were given a heated chase.”
He noted that it was during the chase that the suspect was arrested with the above items recovered from him.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect is a member of Viking Confraternity and part of the syndicate terrorizing the said community. Manhunt for the other fleeing members of the gang is ongoing,” the statement added.
In a related development, the Oghara Police Division in Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of the State have arrested two suspected armed robbers from their criminal hideouts in the community.
The Police said it recovered one (1) pump action gun, two (2) double barrel guns, cut-to-size, one (1) battle axe and three (3) live cartridges from the suspect.
