Delta Police kill suspect on wanted list, declare 2 wanted for terrorism

The Delta State Police Command says it has killed an armed suspect along Anwai-Illah Road in Oshimili South Local Government Area of the State.

It said the suspect, who has been on its wanted list, died after a gun duel between operatives attached to the Command’s Rapid Response Squad and some armed hoodlums.

Confirming the development in a statement on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe said, “On 02/08/2022 at about 1035hrs, operatives attached to Rapid Response Squad, while on surveillance patrol along 74, Anwai-Illah road, Oshimili South LGA, were attacked by some hoodlums, the operatives quickly took cover and engaged the marauders in a serious gun battle thereby forcing them to a retreat.

“However, in the ensuing gun duel, one of the suspects later identified as Japhet (surname unknown), who has been on the command’s wanted list for involvement in numerous attacks on Police personnel and killing of innocent persons, sustained gunshot injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.

“One locally fabricated Beretta pistol with two 9mm live ammunition and one Qlink motorcycle with number plate, WKP 270 QW abandoned by the other gang members were recovered.”

In another development, two brothers identified as Francis Oduwanor Odiakose and Christopher Odiakose, have been declared wanted for crimes borthering on conspiracy, terrorism, cultism and attempted murder in the state.

The statement said, “The above named persons have been declared wanted by the Nigeria Police on C.R.O form 5 issued by the Delta State Police Command, a warrant of arrest has been issued by a magistrate court of Delta State holden at Asaba Magisterial district against them.

“Mr Francis Oduwanor Odiakose a.k.a Medolue and Christopher Odiakose a.k.a Big fish have been declared wanted.

“They are wanted by the Police for offenses of conspiracy, terrorism, cultism, attempted murder, grievous harm and conduct likely to cause breach of the peace.

“If seen, members of the public to enjoined to please arrest and hand over to the nearest Police Station or to the office of the Commissioner of Police Delta State or call any of the numbers.”

The command who placed a handsome reward for any person(s) with information leading to their arrest, urged the public to contact the command headquarters or any nearest police station.
