Amidst increasing tension in Rivers State over the forthcoming governorship and house of assembly election , Pastor Mrs Ene Secondus, the wife of the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has bemoanded what she sees as military invasion of Rivers State.
In an exclusive chat with TPCN today in Port Harcourt, Pastor Ene Secondus lamented that because of the presence of heavily armed military men all over the state, the electorate, especially the women, were afraid of going to cast their votes on Saturday.
She said: “If you go round the streets of Port Harcourt, you will see soldiers; you will see police people all around the place, guns. The people are afraid. There’s so much fear in the environment and in all the twenty-three local governments because of the forthcoming election on the 9th of March, on Saturday.”
Wondering why Rivers people should be subjected to such fear and intimidation, she said it was in order to douse the tension and encourage the people of the state that God asked them to gather the women and pray.
“You can see that when the military people are all around us with guns, they have put us in bondage. Women are afraid to go to the market; how much more to and cast their votes on Saturday? But we believe in God because the earth is his and the fullness thereof. If we gather together and cry unto God, he will hear us and every wicked man or woman who has planned this evil upon Rivers State, God shall visit them,” she said, adding that the women would go out courageously to cast their votes on Saturday.
Expressing disappointment over the shortcomings of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Pastor Mrs Secondus said: “There is problem with INEC but I tell you, there is no problem that God cannot resolve and there’s no trouble that has no solution with God. We have prayed for them. There are so many laxities with them but by the grace of God in the name of Jesus, peradventure there is anybody in their midst that is creating problem for Nigeria, God will destroy them and remove them in Jesus’ name.
“We have asked for mercy. Anybody that wants to repent over what they did on the 23rd of February, God will show them mercy. But peradventure there are some of them who will not want to repent over the evil that they have done, God Almighty will judge them in the name of Jesus. So, I pray that God will use them to do the right thing. Let the materials come early. There are places in Rivers State you have to join vehicle or boat before you go there. Last time, they started voting in my local government area by 4p.m. I pray it will not be so this time. God bless Nigeria.”
