The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has allayed the fears of Rivers State voters over the suspension of the result declaration of the March 9 guber and state house of assembly elections.
INEC, yesterday, suspended result collation citing in the state citing safety concerns for its staff.
But the head of the commission’s media and publicity, Festus Okoye, said on Monday on a live program of the African Independent Television, AIT, that the commission will reach a decision beneficial to Rivers people.
Okoye said that the decision to go back and conduct elections in Rivers state has to be based on fact, adding that supplementary elections will take place in some wards where violence erupted.
