Rivers APC rights should be given to Wike – Chieftain

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has called on former Governor Nyesom Wike, to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC and lead the party.

APC disclosed this through the former Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government and a Chieftain of the APC in the state, Chief Tony Okocha, who spoke in Port Harcourt after a meeting with party members.

The party said the call follows Wike’s role in the victory of Bola Tinubu in the state.

Okocha noted that Wike has the qualities that the APC needs to stand to win elections in the state.

According to him, “APC in Rivers State is bleeding. It appears to us that leadership of PDP in Nigeria do not appreciate or understand the influence imbedded in Chief Nyesom Wike.

“We, therefore, call on Wike to come over to Macidonia, he should come over to APC and lead us. We did not want to hold this opinion under this roof that is why we called the press.”

The party chieftain also urged President Tinubu to handover whatever benefit of appointment that it due Rivers State to Wike, adding that the former governor worked and should be rewarded.

“We hear that people are scheming that they will receive what is due Rivers State. We are here to reemphasize that leadership is as old as the creation. The leadership of APC in Rivers State have been at peace with Wike. When things were difficult, Wike obliged us.

“When Emefiele made it impossible for funds to move, somebody made it possible for us to get fund in Rivers State. There is different between demands and request. We demand things that are our right.

“Rivers State is one of the states that delivered Tinubu outrightly, we have the right of entitlements. Nobody should rob Peter to pay Paul. Our right should be handed over to Wike. We say so because we have confidence that as soon as it gets to him he knows that worked for Tinubu and it will get to us,” Okocha stated.
