Rivers APC Crisis: Faction Moves To Suspend Abe

The last may not have been heard of the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

TPCN gathered from a close source that the Minister of Transportation has perfected plans to suspend the Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly and all those loyal to him from the party.

There has been crisis in the party since the ward congress of 5th of May. However, prior to the date of the ward congress, precisely on the 4th of May, party members loyal to Senator Magnus Abe had vandalized the party’s secretariat along Forces avenue claiming among other things that the party did not make available to them, nomination forms which will enable them to contest for different positions which they duly paid for.

This led to the death of at least one person and many more injured. The senator Abe’s faction subsequently approached the Rivers State High Court and obtained an order which stopped the Amaechi’s faction from conducting the local government congress, an order that they promptly disobeyed it.

According to the source who pleaded anonymity, the planned suspension of Senator Abe was perfected at the Abuja residence of the Minister of Transportation with many factional loyalists present.

As at the time of filing this report, information has it that youths are being mobilised to stage a protest against Senator Abe, thereby calling for his immediate suspension from the party for what they described as ‘lack of loyalty to the Minister.
