A former majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Llyod says his defection back to the Peoples Democratic Party was unscheduled.
He, however, said he accepted to move back to the PDP because the All Progressives Congress, APC, was not making any progress, adding that if he had any ideology, it is that of the PDP as that of the APC have not been internalized.
Mr Llyod, a law teacher who disclosed this during a radio programme on Saturday in Port Harcourt said he moved back to his former party to fulfil the wishes of his people.
“The governor (Wike) paid me an unscheduled visit. I was not celebrating anything. I had no premonition the governor was coming. when I enquired, I heard he came to see the road linking my community. I thought it was an arrest for disobeying covid-19 protocols. We did not discuss politics. Then, my people said we will go to the government house to thank him and then the spirit led me to defect”.
My Llyod also said the PDP sponsored him back to back as a member of the state assembly, adding that the only election he sought to contest under the APC, he lost.
He said that members of the APC do not believe that the party is in distress, adding that those in APC are not making progress.
The lecturer further said he was not quarrelling with anyone, stressing that he does care about criticism. He said that those who think he was wrong will join him soon.
He said that he is fighting to bring dividends to his people, disclosing that APC members claimed he took 200 million from Wike to compromise 2019 election which was false.
On the issues that led to the disqualification of the APC in 2019, Llyod disclosed that it was obvious that the APC was not going to be on the ballot in 2019, adding that he took all the blames as members accused him of compromising the APC court issues.
He said the political fight in the state will not bring any good, but he wants to be an example to the younger ones and inspire them as he was inspired by the minister of transportation, Rotimi Chibuike.
On Senator Magus Abe, he said that Abe cost the APC the election because went to court and challenged the congresses.
