A visible crisis has surfaced within the Peoples Democratic Party in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State following attempts to rig out some aspirants.

One of the affected aspirants, Boma Elymas who is vying for the Okrika constituency seat in the state House of Assembly told our correspondent that a cartel that comprises past and present politicians in government wants to rig them out.

He said, “the members of this cartel want only aspirants that are endorsed by them to contest.

“They believe they have the money and political influence to decide who should and who shouldn’t contest elective seats in Okrika.

“First, they lied to us that Governor Nyesom Wike has bought all the nomination forms which we later found to be false.

“Now, they want to use every illegal means to disenfranchise us from exercising our constitutional rights of being voted for.

“We are ready to resist them as we will not allow them to rig us out of the forthcoming PDP primary.

“Okrika and the PDP belong to all of us. That self-centred style of politics which they have exhibited in the past is responsible for the numerous political setbacks we have experienced in Okrika and we will not give them such chance again.”
