No fewer than 200 defectors have dumped the All Progressives Congress and other political parties to join Phalga Ward 19 of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State.
The defectors denounced membership of their former parties at PDP Phalga ward 19 rally on Saturday in Port Harcourt.
Speaking with our correspondent, Chairman, Phalga PDP ward 19 and Secretary, Port Harcourt City Council, Dr Ezebunwo Nyeche, expressed gladness over the crowd that attended the rally, saying, “such were proofs that ward 19 is doing well.”
Dr Nyeche also assured those who dumped their parties to join the PDP of equal opportunity.
“We will carry all the defectors along. They are now part of us. I welcome them on behalf of our performing Governor, Nyesom Wike who deserved re-election because of his developmental strides in the state, “Ward 19 Chairman said.
On her part, leader of the defectors, Roslyn Alegwu described PDP as moving train to join.
She said, “we saw the good works of Governor Wike. We are impressed by his performance in office. We saw need to support him succeed his re-election bid because we like his leadership.”
Candidates of both federal and state constituencies from the ward, Hon. Ken Chikere and Hon. Solomon Wami who took turns to speak, urged electorates to vote all PDP candidates in the forthcoming national and state elections.
Meanwhile, the state APC has advised PDP not to rejoice over insinuations that state candidates of APC will not take part in the February 16 and March 2nd elections.
Senator representing Rivers South East, Magnus Abe has assured the people of the state that APC will take part in the forthcoming elections in the state.
