Throwback Thursday: Songs of the 2000’s you must have forgotten about

My very first would be from Style Plus. Styl-plus’s first two albums include tracks like ‘Olufunmi’, ‘Imagine That’, ‘Run Away’, ‘Call My Name’, ‘Stay Alive’ and ‘Four Years’.

Other releases include ‘Unbreakable’,’Ready To Go’, ‘On The Dance Floor Ft Jesse Jagz’, ‘Ka Fo Lo (Let’s Fly Away) ‘Jekeserelo Ft. Chics Bad Boy Slim, Runaway.

I am sure every young Nigerian girl that actually grew up listening to those kinda songs , you would remember the three fresh and fly and fresh again, helllllllllllllllllllllo!!! gentle men, Shifi Emoefe, Tunde Akinsanmi and Zeal Onyecheme.

Well those were the days you could actually hear the lyrics without feeling raped at the end of the song( that’s what we have these days)

9ice Ft Tuface – street creedibility , GONGO Aso

Lagbaja- Never far away

I can remember in secondary school, I took a friend’s ipod to listen to this particular song. I can remember feeling emotional for no reason. Oh my dear, the song was off the track for me. Wait ooo, I am still yet to see his face, but you have to give it to him, the guy knows his onions.

Another fine song by Lagbaja is , knock knock knock!!!!!!!!!!!. The introduction is just funny, knocking like its your door, or your heart, oga move on!!! Who that, who you, speak up, go away, go away!! baby plsease pleassssssssssssssssshh, duck mouth, mo te,nothing oh!!! funny conversation, ofe se kini, but its a funny song.

Konko Below! Baby if you don’t know this song, please you need to kneel down to greet me the next time you see me. The konko below dance was a must to learn, you just had to know it, it wasn’t compulsory though, so dont miss quote me.

Olu Maintain.Yahoooze!!!!!!!!

Olori Oko,

If you were into dancing and you never danced to olori oko, please , I am not your mate. lol. On a lighter note, that song takes you back to your origin and brings you black. I mean that black panther scene that the king would have to visit his father as part of the ritual in becoming a king , that feeling( maybe I should do a review on the movie someday, yep, moving on). Its a soul song, one I definitely enjoyed while growing up.

To be continued…
