The Anti-kidnapping unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command on Wednesday, says it has arrested four suspected armed robbers allegedly terrorising Yenagoa, the State capital.
A statement by the spokesperson of the State Command, SP Asinim Butswat, said the suspected robbers were arrested, during a sting operation by officers at the hideout of the gang, at Amarata Community in the Yenagoa area of the State.
Butswat said one Makarov pistol, a locally-made pistol, ammunition and a Barret with cult insignia were also recovered from the suspects.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects, one Seibokuro Keme Bradikumo ‘m’ 32 years, Agoli Frank ‘m’ 30 years, Ebi Newton ‘m’ 29 years and Dume Odigom Bright ‘m’ 24 years, were responsible for recent robberies in Amarata and environs.
“During a search on their hideout, Police operatives recovered a Makarov pistol, .9mm ammunition, a locally-made pistol, Cartridges, and a black barret with the inscription “Deebam 1991,” the statement added.
He added that the suspects have confessed to being members of the Bobos cult group and are cooperating with the Police in its investigation.
