The Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta MOSIEND has appealed to the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Umana, and the newly appointed Acting Managing Director of the NDDC Emmanuel Audu to review the payments of NDDC Contractors with verifiable claims for completed projects.
The President General of MOSIEND, Kennedy West in a statement also called for the Payment for the award of contracts for the clearance of water hyacinths on the waterways should be given speedy consideration.
He said water hyacinth has covered the waterways along the creeks of the region making it unsafe for boats and other Marine vessels to navigate.
Kennedy West further called on the NDDC to rehabilitate and resuscitate flood victims in the region.
The President General of MOSIEND, Kennedy West also takes a swipe at the immediate past Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswil Akpabio, for encouraging policies that encouraged mediocrity and mismanagement of funds meant for the development of the region.
In the meantime, the leadership of Niger Delta Peace and Development Advocates has hailed the decision of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC to provide relief materials for states in the region affected by the 2022 flood.
The President of the Niger Delta Peace and Development Advocates, Kelvin Ebi-Thomas in a statement said the move is a welcome development as it will ameliorate the sufferings of the people occasioned by the flood.
The statement notes that the decision is well thought out given the effect of the flood on the means of livelihood of the people of the region.
Kelvin Ebi-Thomas said the Acting Managing Director of NDDC Emmanuel Audu has again demonstrated his love for the people of the region and his desire to use the interventionist agency to improve the fortunes of the people.
The statement also said that the emergency repairs on the failed portion of the East-West road by the NDDC have left no one in doubt that the Acting Managing Director of the NDDC has the ability and desire to serve the people of the region.
The statement further called on stakeholders in the region and the people at large to stand by the administration of Emmanuel Audu, as he continues to move the region in the right direction.
