The Ebonyi State Government has expressed dismay over the invasion of Nwori Ndi-Obasi Village in Ado LGA of Benue State in the early hours of Sunday.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Internal Security, Border Peace &; Conflict Resolution, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, he disclosed that the State Government is perturbed over the attack which predominantly made up of people of Izzi extraction in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State, but are indigenes of Benue State because they share a common boundary.
He revealed that measures are currently in progress to forestall possible spill-over of the attack into neighbouring villages of Okwofuruike, Odoke and Ohabuleodo respectively, in Izzi and Ebonyi LGAs.
He further stated that a team of Security Agencies and members of Ebubeagu Security Outfit have been effectively mobilized and dispatched to ensure that peace and normalcy are restored in the troubled area.
Meanwhile, the Government revealed that it has taken necessary steps to see to the settling of hospital bills of survivors of the attack who are currently hospitalized at Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki and Sudan Mission Hospital, Onuenyim Izzi.
He added that the Governor has also directed for the immediate distribution of relief materials to bereaved families and displaced victims while urging neighbouring villages to remain calm as they have applied measures to salvage the situation, and will not relent in their commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens of the state.
