Udom condemns attack on police, donates N60M to families of deceased Policemen

Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel has condemned the attacks on security assets in the state.

In a visit with the state executive council to the command headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, he commiserated with them while expressing grief over the loss encountered.

He announced a donation of the sum of N60 Million for the families of police personnel who were slain during the attack.

“I condole with the command over the loss of men and assets to the recent security skirmishes witnessed in the state.

“I pray God’s consolation for the families of the policemen who lost their breadwinners.

“In addition to the financial support I have given the deceased families, we will do all within our power to support our men in uniform to end the new wave of criminality in the state, ” he said.

He further enjoined the command not to be discouraged by the prevailing circumstance, while assuring that strategic steps are being put in place to tackle the anomaly.

Receiving the Governor, the Commissioner of Police, CP Amiengheme Andrew disclosed that the command has lost 21 personnel, 9 vehicles, 11 firearms and other valuables to the attacks.

He further expressed gratitude to the Governor, stating that his visit has lifted the morale of the command while promising to do all within their powers to bring justice to the perpetrators.
