The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspects caught robbing households in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the State.
The police, who identified the suspects as Choice Macaulay (26), Endurance Ejokirehie (27) and Junior Macaulay (21), alleged that the trio had broken into a house on Old Benin Road, Oghara, around 2:00 a.m. with a toy gun and an iron rod, robbing victims of phones valued at N400,000.
Confirming the incident, the State Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, said the Divisional Police Officer in Oghara swung into action, detailing operatives to investigate and bring the perpetrators to book.
Edafe explained further that the detectives, through intelligence arrested the suspects at an Indian hemp joint, recovering items which includes a dummy gun, three phones and an iron rod used for the robbery.
“Suspects confessed to the crime and the victims have identified the stolen phones as theirs. On further investigation, it was discovered that one of the suspects, Choice Macaulay, who is the leader of the gang, was arrested before and charged to court but was later released.
“The suspects led the detectives to their hideout where one locally-made gun and two live cartridges were dug out from the ground where they were buried.”
He expressed that the State’s Police Commissioner has warned criminals that the state will not be a safe place for them following the Command’s commitment to protect lives and property.
