Six suspected notorious drug dealers have been arrested in Funtua Local government of Katsina State by the state command of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in connection with a seized trailer loaded with 24,000 bottles of cough syrup with codeine.
However, the NDLEA only mentioned two people Christian Bolus alleged to be a sellsman and Obiora Chukwuma, who is the manager of Sunglow Equity Nigeria Ltd.
The command failed to mention the names of the other four suspects.
Speaking, the state commander of the NDLEA, Maryam Sani said the arrest was made at a warehouse in Dutsenreme area of Funtua in collaboration with the State’s Joint Task Force saying that ‘the consignment was moved from Onitsha to Funtua’.
However, one of those arrested, Christian Bolus, said that he is not the owner of the consignment but only a messenger who was called to help transport the commodity.
The real owner of the consignment, according to him is Sunday Chibota based in Kebbi state.
“We are based in Funtua, these consignment were sent from Ogini, he called us to offload it, I’m not aware of his business” he added.
