Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the immediate redeployment of Commissioners of Police across several key commands in Nigeria, including Rivers State, Delta State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The reshuffle is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force and enhance security nationwide.

According to a press release issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the changes are designed to strategically position the police for effective policing. CP Olatunji Disu, previously in charge of Rivers State Command, has been moved to the FCT, while CP Abaniwonda Olufemi will assume responsibility for Rivers State Command, transferring from Delta. CP Peter Opara, formerly in the FCT, will now head the Delta State Command.

In addition to these redeployments, four new Commissioners of Police have been appointed to head various state commands. With the approval of the Police Service Commission, CP Danladi Nda will take over in Abia State, CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale will assume leadership in Lagos, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya has been assigned to Ebonyi, and CP


Festus Eribo will head Akwa Ibom State Command.

The IGP emphasized that these appointments and transfers are part of a broader police reform agenda, aimed at improving the capacity of the force to handle security challenges more efficiently. The redeployed officers are expected to bring fresh perspectives to their new roles and implement innovative strategies in their jurisdictions.

Egbetokun called on the newly appointed commissioners to align themselves with the ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force and work diligently to address crime and insecurity in their respective areas. He stressed the need for collaboration with community stakeholders and other security agencies to ensure a safer environment for all Nigerians.

These redeployments underscore the IGP’s commitment to improving police performance and maximizing the available human resources for better law enforcement outcomes across the country.
