Rishi Sunak has emerged as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
This follows the resignation of Liz Truss last Thursday, over her inability to deliver the mandate as promised by the conservative Party on which she was elected.
In an announcement made by Sir Graham Brady, Member of Parliament (MP), only one nomination was received by the 1922 Committee for the new leader of the party and backed by 100 MPs.
Sir Brady, therefore, declared Sunak to be the next party leader, and consequently the new Prime Minister.
Recall that before her resignation, Ms. Truss had been confronted with crises following proposals to cut taxes on businesses and the rich.
Sunak, who is of Indian heritage and 42 years of age, will become Britain’s first youngest Prime Minister.
