Some youths of the Ijaw ethnic nationality under the aegis of the Ijaw Youth Council, Kalabari Clan have accused the kidnapped IYC National President, Peter Igbifa of turning IYC into a cult group.

Igbifa was reported to have been kidnapped by gunmen on Tuesday along the Port Harcourt International Airport in Rivers State.

Speaking with our correspondent, the IYC Kalabari Clan Chairman, Ibinabo Omoni Jack disliked the divide and rule leadership style of Igbifa saying that Igbifa is unfit to lead IYC.

Jack said, “we are not happy with Igbifa who has succeeded in turning IYC into a cult organization.

“Igbifa’s IYC leadership has brought a lot of killings in the Andoni Clan where he comes from and has also brought an unprecedented division in the IYC.

“We are wondering how come Igbifa who used to move about with able body men and security, was traveling on the day of his kidnap without security.

“We are not sure if Igbifa was kidnapped or he (Igbifa) orchestrated his own kidnap. However, we will still unravel the truth surrounding his kidnap.

“On the planned nationwide protest that Igbifa wanted to embark on because of NDDC, it can not hold because Igbifa did not consult the founders of IYC and for that reason and many others, we will not support such protest.”
