Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday sacked the State Commissioner for Environment, Dr Igbiks Tamuno.
According to a statement by Kelvin Ebiri, the special assistant to the Governor on Media, the sacked Commissioner was directed to submit all Government Documents and Property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment.
Sources said the Okrika native was relieved of his duties over his political ambitions.
The governor, the sources said, had warned his aides to shelve their political ambitions and focus on the task of governance or resign.
But a staff of the ministry who spoke on the conditions of anonymity said the Commissioner was relieved of his duties over issues relating to soot.
