We’re doing our best to rescue Rivers Chief – Police

The Rivers State Police Command says it is doing all it can to secure the release of High Chief Mattew Opoto.

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Grace Iringi-Koko, who made this known to our correspondent, said intensified efforts are been to secure the release of the traditional ruler.

It may be recalled that the Chairman of Abissa Council of Chiefs, High Chief Matthew Opoto, was kidnapped by gunmen two weeks ago along Abisse water ways in Akuku-Toru local government area of the state.

Chief Opoto was said to have been abducted on 13 August, 2022, on his way to his community through the Abissa waterway.

Meanwhile, the Chief Security Officer of Abissa, Lolo Agala, while updating our correspondent on the efforts of the community called on the abductors to release him unconditionally.

Agala maintained that the kidnapped Chief have always fight for the good and wellbeing of the community, while calling on his abductors and those behind the kidnap to put the interest of the area at heart and free him.
