Head Downstream Department of Petroleum Resources DPR Portharcourt, Emmanuel Enwuchola, says there is no fuel scarcity in the state as portrayed in some quarters.
Enwuchola who stated this in a phone interview with our correspondent Tina Amanda, described the scarcity as a panic buying, stressing that there is enough Premium Motor Spirit available in the state.
According to him, fuel pump price still remains 145 naira per litre, adding that government has not increased fuel price.
“There is no fuel scarcity in Rivers state, if you have the opportunity again go round, you will see some filling stations that the pump attendants are ready to sell, but no vehicle to sell to.
“There is this panic buying, people are suspecting that government will increase the pump price. The government has not increased and they have not announced to us that they are increasing so consumers just panic unnecessarily”
Our correspondent reports that some filling stations in Ozuoba, Egbelu, Choba and Ada George areas of Portharcourt, shut their filling stations’ entrances. The ones that opened had no pump attendant and the ones dispensing had long queues in them.
