Student, her sisters allegedly attack teacher in Rivers

A student and her sisters have allegedly beaten up a teacher at the Rumuokwuta Girls Secondary School in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State.

It was gathered that the victim, identified as Charles Ordu was attacked on Monday after he caught the student engaging in exam malpractice.

Explaining the incident to newsmen, the teacher said after he caught the student, he had asked her to go and bring her parents.

However, he noted that he was in his office when the girl and her sisters came into his office, attacked him and tore his clothes.

According to him, similar incidents has occurred in the school, where students would physically assault teachers in the school.

Ordu alleged that some of the students are drug addicts who come to school with different types of hard drugs.

Condemning the attack, the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Obio/Akpor chapter described the attack as an insult to society.

The union urged parents to take responsibility in training their children and wards rightly, noting that it would do all it takes to end the menace.
