NYCN disassociates self from Shootings during meeting in PH

The Presidency of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has dissociated self from the shootings that took place at Everville Hotel along Okporo Road, Port Harcourt during youth council meeting.

Former Vice Chairman, Rivers State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Chijioke Ihunwo who is now laying claim on Acting Chairmanship Position was said to have held the state youth coucil meeting at the hotel when the National President, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo stormed the venue to declare the meeting illegal.

The development led to a free for all as the youths went on rampage leading to sporadic shootings by security agents.

A statement released by Ambassador Sukubo through his Chief Press Secretary, Kennedy Wedeh said,” the Youth Council will not be held liable for the nefarious activities or any illegal gathering which took place at Everville Hotel, Okporo Road, Port Harcourt.

“I therefore call on the youths of Rivers State to remain peaceful and law-abiding as the security agencies are currently investigating the true position of what transpired at the said hotel”,

Since Ambassador Sukubo emerged as the President of the National Youth Coucil of Nigeria, the leadership crisis rocking the state chapter of the youth council seems not to have any end in sight.

Comrade Ihunwo in several fora has addressed himself as the current state acting chairman of the youth council while Ambassador Sukubo has insisted that he doubles as national president and state chairman of the youth council.
