Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, Professor Blessing Didia, to respond to a query over the shooting incidents in the university campus.
Students and lecturers abandoned their exams and fled to safety on Tuesday morning after gunmen suspected to be cultists shot sporadically on campus.
The Tuesday incident followed the killing of a final year student in the department of agriculture, Prince Tuaka, on Monday after his final year exams.
Prince Tuaka, from Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State was gunned down by suspected cultists in front of a female hostel.
Cultists said to be on a reprisal had invaded the school on Tuesday but fled upon the intervention of military personnel.
Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers Police Command’s Spokesman ruled out cult clashes as the reason for the killing on Monday.
He said further that the command is investigating the matter.
