The Caretaker Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has appointed 100 Special Assistants. The public was made aware through an announcement post on the chairman’s official social media handle on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the appointments take immediate effect, and the new appointees are expected to work closely with the chairman to achieve his developmental goals, aligning with the vision of Rivers’ Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Ihunwo made sure to congratulate the new appointees and charged them to be effective in their roles. He expressed utmost confidence in their ability to contribute to the growth and development of the local government area.

This development comes two weeks after the caretaker chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Darlington Orji, made 600 appointments in the shape of special assistants, senior special assistants, and executive assistants.

Chijioke Ihunwo and Darlington Orji are among the 23 caretaker chairmen sworn in by the governor on June 19, 2023. The recent appointments are seen as a move to strengthen the local government administration and enhance service delivery to the Rivers people.
