Rivers Court remands suspect for alleged kidnapping, murder

A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded a suspect, alleged to be a notorious cultist to the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre on a six-count charge of conspiracy, cultism, kidnapping and murder.

The suspect identified as Confidence Kirinee and others are alleged to have on March 5, 2019, conspired, kidnapped and killed one Muenalo Sunday, after collecting the sum of ten thousand naira from him.

According to the charges, Kirinee and his group allegedly belong to a cult group in the Zaakpor community in Khana Local Government Area of the state.

When the case was mentioned in court, the Chief Magistrate, G.C Amadi did not allow the charge to be read.

The magistrate, however, directed that the case file be transmitted to the Department of Public Prosecution for advice and that the suspect be remanded in Port Harcourt Correctional Center till March 21, 2022.
