A riot broke out at Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers on Monday evening following the killing of one Eze Wali by OSPAC personnel.
Wali worked as a tipper driver before his untimely death.
The security outfit which operates in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area was inaugurated by the local government chairman of Ikwerre local government, Samuel Nwanosike, a week ago to tackle the rising criminality in the area which has seen businesses close down with hundreds of lives lost.
The deceased was accused of being a cultist by the security personnel who stormed the area in search of cultists but his relatives disagree.
According to a brother of the deceased, “OSPAC entered our farm road residence and saw Wali sitting in front of his house. They asked him to follow them but he refused, telling them that he was the landlord.
“They tried to force him but he refused. They shot him and arrested two other persons but abandoned them at Airport roundabout and fled”
The killing of the tipper driver forced residents to protest in the community.
They also urged the government to curtail the excesses of the security outfit.
