In a bid to end the monetization of community employment slots at the expense of host community dwellers, the Rivers State Professional Artisans Council has vowed to tackle those it described as industrial impostors.
The group which was inaugurated by the Wike led-administration to actualize the creation of 1 million jobs in the state as part of the governor’s 2nd term campaign promise to Rivers people said it has met with many companies in the state, adding that some companies are responding positively.
Speaking at the end of its general progress report meeting in Port Harcourt, the National President of the Rivers State Professional Artisans Council, Engr Hero Jack used the medium to thank some traditional rulers and leaders especially the King of Okochiri Kingdom in Okrika LGA, His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Tom for his support and royal blessings as well as leaders of Obua/Odual LGA among others.
Engr Hero said: “Though there had never been any great vision without challenges, some companies are industrial impostors who have been monetizing community employment and empowerment chances against the will of the people but we have come to put an end to that.

“In line with the mandate of this council to ensure that citizens of this state are gainfully employed and empowered, we have met with a lot of companies and some of them are cooperating with us. In Ahoada West Local Government Area of the state, some of our members are working and training the indigenes of that area as a result of our efforts.
“We appreciate some traditional rulers and leaders especially the King of Okochiri Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Kind Ateke Tom for his support and royal blessings. In fact, those of Abua/Odual Local Government Area of the state has told companies operating on their land to give employment and empowerment opportunities to we the Rivers State Professional Artisans Council.”
The National President of the group further said: “We have always been peaceful and law-abiding and we will sustain the same. We express our deep profound gratitude to our youth-friendly King, His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Tom and his council of chiefs and their support which we believe will greatly enhance our chances of employment in the state.
“With all humility and fairness, we have enough qualified and skilled professionals that can fit into all employment sectors of the economy. What we need is equal employment opportunities to enable us to render our services to our nation. When our fellow youths that are out there in the street see that our peaceful approach to life has secured us employments, they will emulate same and the tendency to go into social vices will be drastically reduced in our society.”
