The Rivers State Police Command has come under fire as a relative of the late hairstylist, Destiny Balogun, who was killed by gunmen along Rumuola/Rumuokwuta Road a week ago, Yemi Ade, has alleged that policemen attached to Kala Police Division were asking for N100,000 bribe before they could see the body of their relative.
Mr Ade said that despite the fact that no investigation was carried out in the killing of Destiny Balogun, the police officers demanded one hundred thousand naira and settled for twenty thousand naira before allowing them to access the corpse of their late brother at the mortuary.
He said the police also asked them to swear an affidavit to withdraw a statement that they never investigated nor visited the scene of the crime.
The family is calling on the police commissioner, Usman Belel, to investigate the matter and hand out appropriate sanctions to those involved.
