Police begin mass arrests in Port Harcourt

Operatives of the Rivers State command have began mass arrest of some residents, in what insiders referred to as a “money raising adventure”

The operatives from the Choba police station randomly raided some parts of the area mainly inhabited by students of the University of Port Harcourt and arrested scores of persons on Tuesday evening, releasing them after sums of money were paid.

The Chairman of the Rivers State Civil Society Organizations, RIVSCO, Enefa Georgewill who disclosed this in a telephone interview said his group got distress calls about mass arrests by police operatives in Choba.

He, however, said that some of the arrested persons have been released after paying unspecified sums of money to the police.
