Police arrest vigilante leader for disarming soldiers

The Rivers State Police Command says its operatives have arrested the disbanded OSPAC leader, Nyeche Ajuru.

Ajuru allegedly seized two riffles from Men of Nigerian Soldiers two months ago at Ndele community, Emohua Local Government Area.

CP Nwonyi Emeka, while briefing reporters at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, said Nyeche Ajuru was arrested along Aluu -UDSS road in a Toyota Corolla car by operatives of Anti-cultism last Thursday.

CP Emeka stated that an AK 47 Riffle, two walkie-talkies, and Police Special Constabulary ID were recovered from Ajuru and the vehicle’s occupants.

The CP further said Ajuru confessed to having engaged and killed two soldiers in a shoot-out in Ndele.

According to him, one ThankGod Aruka was arrested last Thursday in connection to the kidnapped of Justice Azunda, protocol officer to Emeka Woke, former Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House.

The Commissioner said the suspect led the Police operatives to their hideout, where the corpse of the Kidnapped victim, who was killed and buried in a shallow grave at Emohua, was exhumed. CP Emeka disclosed that two ATM cards and one AK 47 rifle were recovered from the scene.

The Police also arrested members of a notorious fraudster syndicate based on some victims’ complaints.
