The Elites in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have scored Governor Nyesom Wike zero on flood management.

The zero rating on the governor by the elites came days after the National Emergency Management Agency urged the people of the area to prepare now ahead of this year’s flooding.

The LGA which is situated within the Orashi region of the state used to experience perennial flooding every year mainly caused by persistent rainfall as well as the opening of Lagbo Dam from Cameroon.

Speaking with our correspondent, the Secretary General of the Omoku Elite Consultative Forum in ONELGA, Ikechukwu Ojobah said Wike’s eight years in Government House only gave palliatives such as cups of rice, packs of noodles, etc to flood victims in the area.

“For we, Wike as governor has not done anything to mitigate the yearly flood menace in our area.

“The palliatives he (Wike) gives to flood victims can not be called flood management.”

The Elite group further appealed to the incoming administration of the state to collaborate with the federal government and the oil multinational firms in the area to dredge and canalize the river.

Adding that the local government authority in the area does not have the financial muscle to dredge and canalize the river.
