NDLEA nabs 40-year-old man with 1.6kg Meth in Rivers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Rivers State Command has arrested a 40-year-old man for possession of 1.6 kg of methamphetamine.

The suspect identified as Damian Onuoha was arrested on Monday, during a raid at Elele Alimini town of Emuoha Local Government Area.

In a statement in Port Harcourt, the spokesperson of the State Command, Emmanuel Ogbumgbada, said the sum of N650,700 cash was also recovered from the suspect.

According to him, the suspect is currently in detention while investigation is ongoing.

Ogbumgbada said the agency also arrested 21 suspects “comprising 19 males and 2 females with a total seizure of 424.72kg of illicit drugs such as cocaine, heroin, Cannabis sativa and methamphetamine aka Mkpuru Mmiri and other psychotropic substances such as Tramadol and Swinol.”

He also disclosed that the agency in Rivers State successfully convicted 21 drug dealers at the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt in October.

The NDLEA spokesperson said that the convicted persons “are serving various jail terms at the Correctional Service Centre, Port Harcourt”.
