Navy rescues 7 kidnapped victims in Rivers

Operatives of the Nigerian Navy NNS Pathfinder have rescued seven kidnapped victims who were taken hostage along Rivers/Bayelsa waterways.

In a statement in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the Base Commander NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Suleiman Ibrahim, said the abduction of the victims, who were travelling from Bonny to Port Harcourt on the 10th of May 2022 was masterminded by one Victor Padi.

According to him, the Navy mobilised and started tracking to identify the culprits immediately they received information on the incident.

He said after a series of investigations, it was discovered that one Victor Padi was the mastermind of the criminal act.

“From there, we moved and stormed his camp but unfortunately by the time they got to the camp he had reallocated his victims.”

He said it was later discovered that the victims had been relocated to Bayelsa State.

Ibrahim disclosed that after the discovery, the Navy in Rivers State in collaboration with their base in Bayelsa and stormed the camp and rescued the victims unharmed.

He further revealed that the victims will be handed over to their families after medical examinations have been completed to ascertain their state of health.

The Navy commander said efforts are on top gear to arrest all those culpable and advised residents to go about their businesses while assuring that the Nigerian Navy will continue to police the waterways.
