Ikwerre council boss restores power supply in communities

Several years after some communities in Ikwerre LGA were allegedly thrown into darkness following vandal activities, Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area say he has restored power supply in all communities of the LGA barely a year in office.

Addressing Journalists at the Council’s headquarters in Isiokpo on Wednesday, the Chairman, Ikwerre Local government area, Samuel Wanosike stated that this was in fulfilment of his Campaign promise to the people of the LGA.

Wanosike stated that despite the challenges of vandalism faced during the reconnection processes, he and his team have successfully reconnected the communities, fulfilling the electioneering promise of restoring power in the LGA to improve the economic Life of residents and indigenes of the LGA.

Speaking on the recent plans by the NDDC through PHEDc to improve the already restored electricity lines to serve a future purpose, Nwanosike urged the power distribution company not to subject the people of the Local government to darkness while it goes on with the upgrade.

The Ikwerre LGA boss warned that any attempt by the agency to politicize the project and subject the people of the area who have been enjoying power supply to darkness would be resisted.

Nwanosike who also noted that the economic life of any community is dependent on energy added that attempts to truncate the existing power situation currently provided by the local government for the people of the area would not be tolerated.
