Georgewill holds thanksgiving over emergence as UNIPORT VC

The 9th vice-chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Owunari Georgewill has held a Thanksgiving service in honour of God for his emergence as the new vice-chancellor of the institution.

The event which took place at the university convocation arena had in attendance the Pro chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Senator Chief Andrew Uchendu, Traditional rulers, Former Vice-chancellors, Former Deputy vice-chancellors, deans of faculties, groups and students.

In his opening remarks, the Pro chancellor of the University, Senator Andrew Uchendu, prayed Gods guidance for effective 9th administration, he also promised to proffer help when and where necessary.

“I pray God to allow him to only see the truth, hear the truth and not to allow him to see the path that will lead to destruction.

“Let us work together to take the university to the next level, Prof. Steve Okodudu has done a lot of work to reduce the tension, which reduce a lot of work for him.

“At present uniport ranks the sixth and this is the handwork of Ekong and Ekodudu, Prof. Owunari will take it to the second or third level, with the joint effort of students and staffs. I ask that his administration always meet me for an assistant, I will always be available to blend a helping hand and ear”

Meanwhile earlier in his opening address, at the Thanksgiving service, the 9th VC, called on solidarity from all stakeholders.

“If you are willing, don’t lose hope in fighting the good fight. In the heat of the battle don’t give up.

“In this battle, there was no victor, no vanquish. Today we are all, I’m on a mission and that mission is to take Uniport to a greater height.

“I call on stakeholders of this university to come together to take this university to a greater height”
