Two persons lost their lives on Wednesday following a fire outbreak at Elele Alimini community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The incident occurred when a vehicle conveying gallons of Premium Motor Spirit, (Petrol) burst into flames, the Guardian reports.
It was gathered that the occupants of the vehicle, loaded with illegal petroleum products, were travelling from Port Harcourt to Ahoad, Ahoada East LGA when it collided with an oncoming car, which resulted in the fire.
Two occupants of the affected vehicles were burnt beyond recognition while a police officer, who was in the company of one of the vehicles was left with several degrees of burns.
The police officer, who is in critical condition is currently receiving treatments in an undisclosed hospital due to a high degree of burns.
Confirming the incident, the State Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, said, he had confirmed the incident but was yet to get details of the development.
