One Barr Egbon Oluwafunmilayo Ifelaju ‘F’ has called on the general public to hold Dr (Barr) Lekia Victor Gima responsible if anything happens to her life and children, insisting that the latter had been planning to kill her.
Oluwafunmilayo admitted that she and Gima were once cohabiting as lovers before parting ways with her ex-boyfriend following series of beating and inhuman treatments meted on her by her male counterpart.
While narrating her ordeal to TPCN, Oluwafunmilayo said, “I was living with Dr Lekia Victor Gima from 2013 to May 2019 and I left him because of domestic violence and threat to my life and I took my children along with me.
“We have not married in any way, not even traditional or in court or whatsoever. And now he had petitioned me to the Nigeria Immigration Service saying I want to do trafficking with my children which is not true and also petitioned me to the Human Rights Office and the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State.
“I have already gone to answer the invitation by the Nigeria Immigration Service but we were supposed to go back there on Thursday. I have also gone to the Human Rights and they requested that I should bring my children on Thursday but I am scared that he (Gima) may use that means to take my kids away from me.
“My family life and I are not safe because he had been sending people to monitor our movement. I want the Public to help me be aware that this man is a predator. He is not a man that someone can be saved around him. He might come in the cloak of being gentle and nice but actually, he is not.
“On January 2013, Gima sent me a friend request on Facebook which I accepted and we started dating and talking about ourselves while I was in the final year at the university studying Law.
“I started living with Gima in Port Harcourt without the knowledge of my family. I later communicated with my father who requested that I return home but I couldn’t because I was pregnant for Gima. I thought we will both go and see my family after I give birth in 2014 but it was, unfortunately, a stillbirth.
“I became pregnant again for Gima in 2014 and gave birth in April 2015. Although whenever there is an argument in the house, Gima always has a way of insulting my parents and downgrading me. His maltreatment and domestic abuse on me started when I was in law school.
“He beat me up to a point I sustained bruises on my face and neck. At another time during my externship, an argument occurred among us and he beat me up from Friday night till Saturday morning and I had to run away and stayed with a friend for a while.
“Due to the incessant beating and maltreatment on me by Gima, I resolved to leave his house after my law school. I finally took my baby and returned to my father’s home in Edo State. He later pleaded with my father and I forgave him and returned to his house.
“After a while during the period of my National Youth Service Corps, I discovered that I was pregnant for him again. While my pregnancy was three months old, an argument came up between us and he beat me up with punches in the bathroom to a point that he almost killed me.
“When I could no longer bear it again, I finally left his house with my kids because my life was in danger. Gima did not marry me in any way. I guess he hypnotized me to forget myself. All I want is for Gima to take good care of my children which is his responsibility and stop sending people to harass me.”
Our correspondent reports that the mobile number of Gima could not be reached when contacted for comment at the time of filing this report, adding that the reply from his mobile network indicated phone switched off.
