Christians go spiritual to avert 2nd civil war

Christians under the banner of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called for an emergency prayer meeting to avert another civil war in Nigeria.

This is because the painful memory of the Nigeria civil war which started In 1967 and end in 1970 is still traumatizing the country’s citizens as history recorded millions of lives lost.

The Rivers State Chapter of CAN which made this known through its Chairman, Apostle Stanley Dimkpa said the level of killings and unrest across the country is a pointer to another civil war.

Dimkpa said only God can rescue the country from its numerous challenges, adding that the right time to pray for the nation is now.

He said, “It’s no longer news that our country Nigeria is going through terrible times

“With the threat of 2nd civil war, daily killings of innocent Nigerians particularly Christians by Boko Haram, herdsmen and unknown gunmen, only God can save our nation.

“The worst is the recent development that the police and other security agencies who officially should protect us are now major casualties.

“Citizens are presently losing confidence in government and are seeking for self-help. For these, we really need to pray as the bible says if My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray.

“And seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Dimkpa added that “We are all gathered here as the body of Christ Jesus, from whom the Christian body in Rivers State is established and we believe that God will hear our prayers and heal our land (Nigeria).”
