Senator Ben Bruce refers to Nigeria as a lawless country during plenary.

Nigerians have reacted to the seeming inability of the Buhari-led federal government to put to an end to the killings by the Fulani herdsmen in the middle-belt part of the country.

At a plenary at the floor of the Senate, Senators chided the federal government for their failure to curtail the killings and bring the culprits to book.

Among the senators that reacted angrily at the Federal Government’s inability to end the killings were Dino Melaye and Ben Bruce with Bruce referring to Nigeria as a lawless country.

Watch:

Arsenal still not close to signing Aubameyang.

Arsenal are in the market for a new forward despite signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United.

Borussia Dortmund hitman Aubameyang has emerged as their main target, with the Gabon international likely to leave the club this month.

Reports have claimed the 28-year-old has already agreed a deal to move to Arsenal.

But Wenger, speaking ahead of his side’s EFL Cup clash against Chelsea, has insisted that is not the case.

“Confident or not confident, I don’t know,” he said.

“We are not close to a deal for Aubameyang with Dortmund or anybody else.

“He is one of our possible movements but there are others”

2019 and the call for a Third Force.

As the clock ticks, the year grinds, days turn into weeks, February 16, 2019 keeps getting close.

Nigeria will soon experience another beehive of political activities with its attendant intricacies in preparation for next year’s general elections.

It is a race against time and for those who still believe that the ballot box holds the magic wand with which a country like ours will be salvaged, there is little or no time.

Nigeria has found itself interlaced in-between two political gladiators that might yet again decide it’s destiny.

Inec has on its part, and first time in its history too, released the timelines for the elections a year before Nigerians go to the polls to elect those that will pioneer the affairs of the country for another term of four years.

This early release of time line, according to the Commission, is to enable political parties select those they find worthy of representing them at the elections and conduct others affairs that would hamper the much touted free and fair elections.

However, the country seems to be at dilemma as there has been no strong organized opposition to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) at the National level. The only opposition that the ruling party have had to contend with are the plethora of angry youths on different social media platforms who are being frustrated daily at the turn of events.

The People Democratic Party (PDP) which is supposed to provide a matching opposition to the ruling APC seems to lack both the will and direction on many fronts.

Having lost power unexpectedly, it also came with its own consequences, one of which being the constant hurling of their members by the APC controlled Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

However, it is evident that the PDP have not dusted themselves from the defeat it suffered in 2015 to sell themselves to Nigerians again, considering the fact that the APC under the leadership of Muhammadu Buhari have not made an impressive outing 3 years after he ascended to power.

The PDP is only strong, perhaps, at states level and unless they will spring up a surprise to unseat the general, the election is tilting towards a known direction.

Many factors have made the change promised by the ruling party a farce and something that has fallen flat on its face:

The anti-corruption drive by the President seems only targeted at the members of opposition party. In short, it has collapsed while the pieces are being mopped up . The EFCC seems to look the other way when members of the ruling party’s hands are found in the cookies jar. The Commission has not recorded any significant conviction since 2015, even when the culprit’s hands were found to be dripping with corruption.

The security challenges facing the country, especially as regards the regularly occurring killings due to herdsmen-farmers clash around the country, with the police seeming to lack the will to apprehend those responsible have equally blighted every hope that the ex general will lead from the front as he promised. We have, over the years, witnessed unexplained circumstances where these herdsmen walk free even when their hands are dripping with blood.

The economy slipped out of recession but have not recorded any significant growth with jobs still being lost at an unbelievable rate. The Nigerian Bureau of Statistics in its annual report stated that about 4 million jobs have been lost since the 2015 that the APC came to power. That is more than the entire population of a state like Bayelsa.

With calls for restructuring gaining traction across the country, the APC have been bold in denying the fact that they ever promised in their manifesto to restructure the country along regional lines.

These glaring indices are the pointers with which a strong opposition will take on the ruling party, sell itself to the electorates and wrestle power from the APC but that seems to be far from their agenda.

In short, the PDP which has equal capacity to the ruling party has not just been lagging behind in playing effectively, its role as the opposition, it has floundered in its recent outing both in Ondo, Edo and Anambra.

Nationally, the party is weak, except, perhaps, at the state level and mainly in the South where people still believe in the party. And depending on whomever they field as candidate for the office of the President, the party might be broken beyond repair.

Its final destiny might be determined when voters in Ekiti and Osun states go to the polls later in the year to decide who would run the affairs of the respective states for another four-year term.

Nevertheless, people have been calling for a third force that would balance out the choke hold the two gladiators have on our polity. Such calls as patriotic as they are, suffer from poverty of two factors: timing and the political muscle to get to the grassroots.

INEC said it has registered a total number of 68 political parties with 22 out of the 68 newly registered.
However, an average Nigerian still have little knowledge as to what these newly registered parties stand for or if they will ever field candidates that would make significant impacts at the elections.

Considering the fact that the Nigerian voters have been impoverished over time, with money, religion and ethnicity obviously going to play huge roles in the forthcoming general election, how are these new political parties going to muster the financial muscle that the PDP and APC have amassed over the years to beat the choke hold the two gladiators have at the grassroots level?

How are they going to sell themselves to the electorates within this short period of time especially at a time everyone has resigned to faith of the elections being between PDP and APC?

How have they tried to out-muscle the PDP and APC at the grassroots level where a chunk of the voters are?

How have they tapped into the anger of millions of youth on social media who see the battle as that between the PDP and APC?

Their strategy matters between now and February 16 while the people yearn for real change.

What is Davos 2018? Who is attending the World Economic Forum?

THE world’s most powerful leaders will meet today at Davos 2018 for an annual four-day elite conference known as the World Economic Forum.

But what is Davos 2018 and who is attending the World Economic Forum?

A global political get-together for around 2,500 movers and shakers from the worlds of business, politics, finance and media, the World Economic Forum is held annually each year in the town of Davos.

The mountain resort sits high up in the eastern Alps of Switzerland in Graubunden, the largest and and most eastern member state of the country.

It is home to one of the Switzerland’s biggest ski resorts and is also the highest “town” in Europe at 1,560m.

Davos 2018 will run from January 23 to 26 under the theme of “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World” and will be the the 48th forum to date.

The event was founded by German business professor Klaus Schwab in 1971 and was attended by 444 executives in its first year.

WEF’s mission statement says it is “committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic, and other leaders of society to shape global, regional, and industry agendas”.

Speeches, seminars and discussions are all part of the official itinerary but the glitzy gathering has come under fire in the past for being nothing more than a talking shop for oligarchs, bankers and other members of the global elite.

Who is attending the World Economic Forum?

The world’s most powerful politicians and business leaders are among the 2018 attendees.

Confirmed on the line-up are British Prime Minister Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron.

A total of 340 political leaders are expected to attend while heads of state and government from Africa, the Middle East, North Africa and Latin America will be present.

US President Donald Trump is supposed to deliver a keynote address towards the event’s close although this remains in doubt after the US government shutdown stretched into a third day.

Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, will deliver the opening address.

Many of the world’s representatives from international organisations will be in attendance.

These include Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, Zeid Ra’ad Hussein, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and Jim Yong Kim, President of World Bank.

Also present from the words of business and finance will be Ginni Roomette of, IBM Corporation, Fabiola Gianotti of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Geneva, Sir Martin Sorrell of WPP and Christine Largarde of the International Monetary Fund.

Heads of charities, academics and nongovernmental organisations also come along as do a small number of celebrities.

Google honours Keshi.

Google has honoured former Super Eagles player and coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi on a day that would have marked his 56th birthday.

Keshi who Captained the Super Eagles team that won the 1994 African Nations cup died on the 7th day of June 2016 at the age of 54.

During his playing career, Keshi earned 60 caps for the Nigerian national football team, making him the nation’s second-most capped player at the time of his retirement.

He represented the country at the 1994 FIFA World Cup and the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations, captaining the Super Eagles to victory in the latter.

He also played club football in five countries, most notably Belgium, where he won the Belgian league championship with R.S.C. Anderlecht in 1991

As a manager, Keshi achieved success by qualifying Togo for the only FIFA World Cup appearance in its history in 2006.

However, he left the position prior to the tournament and was replaced by Otto Pfister.

He later coached the Nigeria’s National team, the Super Eagles and saw the team to victory at the 2013 edition of the African Nations Cup in South Africa where the Super Eagles beat Burkina Faso to clinch the title.

Arsenal unhappy over Nwakali.

Dutch Eerste Divisie club MVV Maastricht are in talks with Arsenal over a loan deal for Nigeria U20 captain Kelechi Nwakali, according to his brother and representative Allwell Nwakali.

Porto had explored the possibility of signing the attacking midfielder on a permanent basis in the January transfer window but have not had fruitful discussions with the Gunners.

Arsenal are set to recall Nwakali from VVV Venlo as they are unhappy over his lack of first-team opportunities, with only three starts to his name in the Eredivisie since he completed his move.

”MVV Maastricht want Kelechi, and I think Arsenal want that as well as they have initial understanding,” said Allwell Nwakali to allnigeriasoccer.com.

”Arsenal want him to join MVV so that he can playing day in, day out and this will help him build his game against the summer.”

The 19-year-old Nwakali was conspicuously missing from VVV Venlo’s match day squad against ADO Den Haag this past weekend, and was also not listed for the friendlies against Alemannia Aachen and Venray.

He spent last season on loan at MVV, and scored 3 goals in 34 matches.

Obafemi commits international Future to Nigeria.

Southampton’s new kid on the block Michael Obafemi has committed his international future at senior level to Nigeria ahead of his country of birth, Republic of Ireland, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.

The 17-year-old had been on the radar of Nigeria’s national team coaches and the Nigerian Federation even before he made his Premier League debut in the Saints’ 1-1 draw vs Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, January 21.

Obafemi was one of the best players for Team Nigeria UK when they lost to a Golden Eaglets squad parading the likes of Kelechi Nwakali and Victor Osimhen in a pre-World Cup friendly in June 2015.

Coach Emmanuel Amuneke was pleased with his performance and had mulled over the possibility of adding him to the roster but the striker had to return to England.

”He traveled with us to Abuja, he was the best player for Team Nigeria UK. Just last week, we got a call from his mother that he wants to change, he wants to play for Nigeria not Ireland,” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.

”He has been scoring goals regularly for Southampton U18s, we brought him to Nigeria when he was with Leyton Orient, he’s a fantastic player.”

Obafemi, who has caps for Republic of Ireland U19s, has scored 12 goals for Southampton U18s this season.

George Weah to be inaugurated today.

The newly elected Liberian president, George Weah will be inaugurated at the capital, Monrovia, today.

Weah was the frontrunner among 20 candidates who ran in the first round of elections last October 10. After an electoral litigation battle that dragged on for weeks, he won the December 26 runoff with 61.5 percent of the vote. Though turnout was low – 55.8 percent compared with 75.2 percent in October – Weah’s die-hard followers delivered his most decisive victory.
The footballer turned politician will replace the out going Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Despite Liberia’s reputed gains in political and socioeconomic renewal in the past 12 years, when Weah takes over from Sirleaf he will be inheriting high levels of unemployment and domestic debt, a depreciated currency, donor aid fatigue, growth projections of 4 percent (before the Ebola epidemic the country recorded an average growth rate of 7.5 percent), corruption with impunity – including a secret tax waiver for logging companies – and declining human development indices.

Weah has promised speedy development for the west African country.

Details later.

Nigeria: Sexual Satisfaction Not Possible With Sex Dolls – Seyi Hunter

With the troll of sex dolls which has become the order of the day in the country and on social media, many are quizzed as to whether or not the sex robots can deliver as they have been hyped. One person who has lent her voice on this is Nollywood actress, producer and self acclaimed sex goddess, Seyi Hunter.

The eloquent movie-maker spared no word in expressing her displeasure while driving home her opinion. According to her, nothing can replace the natural feel of a woman’s sex organs, arguing that only cowardly men will subscribe to the use of sex dolls.

“Sex doll can never be a threat to women; it is not possible because it can never be the same, hell no! It’s no threat. It’s impossible for sex dolls to replace ladies/women; the feel can’t be the same for God’s sake. A woman will always be a woman, soft and succulent, its only men with fear, men that have complex issues, men that can’t woo a woman that will get the sex doll,” she retorted.

However, she agreed that there is no harm in possessing one, but must be used only in the absence of a woman.

“Having a sex doll is good, it can be used once in a while but it can’t take over the place of a woman, it is not possible because no matter how a doll is built, it can’t give the same pleasure I and every other woman out there will give. It can only be used to pass time or when there is no woman available; it can’t be the same as a woman,” she concluded.
