The names reflected the three geopolitical zone in the South in line with the APC Northern governors’ position that power should shift to the South.

Recall that the Senate President Ahmad Lawan had been announced as a consensus candidate by APC National Chairman, Senator Adamu Abdullahi.

Others affected by the development are the other 13 recommended by the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun led-screening committee including Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi, and former Minister of Education for State, Chief Emeka Nwajiuba among others.
