Rivers NYSC Coordinator Urges Corps Members to Embrace Nigeria’s Cultural Heritage

The Rivers State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Mr. Moses Oleghe, has urged corps members to develop a belief in the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria.

Oleghe made this appeal on Saturday, October 11, 2025, during the 2025 Batch B Stream II inter-platoon cultural carnival held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai Local Government Area of the state.

Highlighting the significance of culture, the NYSC coordinator said, “culture is a unique and remarkable identity that unites people and reflects their shared destiny and heritage.”

He encouraged corps members to promote unity by embracing one another regardless of cultural, social, religious, or political backgrounds, emphasizing that Nigeria’s diversity remains its “greatest strength.”

The cultural carnival saw Platoon 9 emerge in first place, followed by Platoon 5, and Platoon 4.

The event was graced by the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, Comrade Paul Bazia, who was present to show moral support to the corps members.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Hon. Solomon Abuba Ochoma, has commended corps members deployed to the state, for their discipline, skills, and fighting spirit.
