Four Kidnapped Passengers Rescued By Police In Rivers State

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of four individuals who were abducted from a God is Good Motors (GIGM) bus, en route from Abuja to Port Harcourt.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command’s spokesperson, revealed that efforts to apprehend the kidnappers are ongoing. Upon learning of the abduction, the police responded promptly, deploying tactical teams to secure the release of the passengers.

“We are aware of the incident, and our Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Bala Mustapha, immediately deployed his tactical teams to ensure the release of the victims,” SP Iringe-Koko stated.

As of the latest report, four of the kidnapped passengers have been freed, and the police are working tirelessly to ensure the release of any remaining captives. “As I speak to you, four of the victims have been released,” Iringe-Koko confirmed. She added that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the remaining captives regain their freedom.

The Rivers State Police Command has reassured the public of its commitment to maintaining safety and security, emphasizing its dedication to preventing crime and protecting lives.

Following the unsettling incident on Friday, October 11, where passengers traveling from Utako to Port Harcourt were abducted, GIG Motors issued a statement expressing its concern for the passengers and their families. The company reiterated that it is committed to ensuring the safe return of all affected individuals.

GIG Motors emphasized that it has been in close contact with the families of the abducted passengers, offering updates and support during this challenging time. The company also clarified that contrary to some reports, it has been fully cooperating with the Nigerian Police Force and other relevant authorities since the abduction occurred.

According to GIG Motors, its driver, along with a female passenger and her baby, were among those released by the kidnappers. The driver promptly reported the incident to the anti-kidnapping unit in Port Harcourt and is assisting in the ongoing investigation.

Acknowledging the emotional toll the situation has taken, GIG Motors urged the public to rely on verified information. The company assured that it remains dedicated to working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure the safe return of all abducted passengers.

In its statement, GIG Motors reiterated its unwavering commitment to passenger safety, emphasizing that its passengers are like family. The company vowed to continue its efforts to bring everyone home safely and assured that it stands firm in its commitment to their well-being.
