Mohbad’s female fans in Port Harcourt want his father arrested

As the untimely death of singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, continues to generate anger across Nigeria, his female fans in Port Harcourt are now calling for the arrest of his father, Joseph Aloba.

Mohbad died on September 12 in an undisclosed hospital, in controversial circumstances, and was buried the next day – September 13, 2023 – in his father’s compound at Ikorodu, Lagos.

The manner in which he died and his quick burial sparked angry reactions on social media, with his fans and admirers calling for a thorough investigation to unravel the mystery surrounding his death.

Adding their own voice to the call, some Port Harcourt ladies expressed disappointment with Mohbad’s father for hurriedly burying the music star a day after his death.

Baring their minds to TPCN on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the ladies said that Mohbad’s father’s action was suspicious, arguing that if there was nothing he and those being linked to Mohbad’s death were trying to hide, he would not have hurriedly buried him without insisting on an investigation to know the cause of his death.

“How can they bury Mohbad like that? A person dies today and they bury him the next day – a full man, a father! Even if he didn’t marry and have a child, he’s already a full man, they should not bury him like a chicken. Okay, can they tell us what killed him? What of Naira Marley and others they say he’s quarreling with? Have they arrested them? Are they not supposed to arrest them for questioning? Even his father, for him to agree to bury him like that, they need to ask him questions, because we hear that Naira Marley and others gave him money for the burial,” Abigail, a student in one of the universities in Port Harcourt, said.

For Anaye, an Okrika-born pretty make-up artist, Mohbad’s father’s acceptance of his son’s burial in an alleged under-sized coffin with his head bent is a demonstration of irresponsibility that needs to be probed.

Anaye said: “Apart from burying him so fast, what pained me most is that they didn’t even position him well. If you look at his body inside the coffin, you will see that his head is bending. Is that how to bury somebody? How can they bend his head like that and his father will allow that kind of thing? You know, when I saw the video, I was like – I can’t really understand. Why treat that boy like that? In fact, the whole thing just dey irritate me.”

Sonia, a student of Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, wondered if Mohbad’s father was in his right senses when he allowed the hurried burial of his son.

“In fact, I no just understand that man. Instead of reporting the matter to the police so that they could handle the matter, he went and buried him fast because maybe they don give am money. And maybe na those people – all those Naira Marley them – na them go know wetin kill the guy. The man for just use police go arrest all of them – leave the body for the mortuary first.

By now they for don dey confess. See how they bend the guy neck sef; I no sure say im die. Maybe they just strangle am. Wickedness! May his soul rest in peace Sha,” Sonia said.

Ijeoma Akoh, another fan of Mohbad, suggested that autopsy and DNA tests should be conducted on the singer’s corpse.

“The autopsy test is to find out the true cause of his death. Then, the DNA test is to know who his real father is. For me, I don’t think that man is his real father because if he’s the true father, he won’t bury him in a hurry like that. I heard they’re not even Muslims. The man is a Christian. So, how can he bury him like that as if Mohbad is a newborn baby? Please, injustice is not good. The police should make sure anybody involved in his death does not go free.”

Meanwhile, TPCN has gathered that an autopsy test to ascertain the cause of Mohbad’s death has been arranged and will soon be conducted in a yet-to-be-disclosed hospital in Lagos.

Our checks revealed that many concerned Nigerians are anxiously waiting to hear the result of the test.
