Armed men chase man to death in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of a yet-to-be-identified man being chased by armed men along Illoabuchi Street, Mile 2 Diobu axis on Saturday night, 22 April 2023.

In an interview with our Correspondent, SP Grace Iringe Koko, Spokesperson for Command, said three armed men were chasing the man along Illoabuchi when suddenly he hit a pavement and sustained severe injuries.

SP Koko said the man was rushed to the hospital by a good Samaritan, where he was confirmed dead.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness who pleaded anonymously told our Correspondent that the assailants who drove in a vehicle shot severally at the deceased when he got to Emenike-Illoabochi Street Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The eyewitness stated that the gunmen zoomed off immediately they shot severally at the man.

Our Correspondent, who visited the scene minutes after the incident, saw Police patrol vans attached to Diobu Divisional Police headquarters Mile 1 and Azikiwe Divisional Police headquarters.

Another source said the incident might not be unconnected to the supremacy and territorial control battle between suspected D12 and BS houses of Degbam cult groups, which broke out at Elechi Beach Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt, nine days ago.
