Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has assured the Party’s legal team that his commission is ready to fully cooperate with the party’s scrutiny of the 2023 presidential election documents.
This follows the party’s call for a national protest after INCE refused to grant it access to presidential election materials.
Labour Party had at the weekend called for national protest over the commission’s refusal to obey a court order mandating the commission to give it access to materials used for the presidential election.
INEC via its Twitter account, on Monday, quoted Mr Mahmood as offering the party’s lawyers fresh assurances that the commission will make available all documents in its possession that the Labour Party might need to prove their case.
He said: “INEC has nothing to hide. Documents available at the HQ will be given immediately. We are meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners today and we will discuss how other documents at the state level could also be made available to you speedily.”
